IPL Photorejuvenation

IPL Photorejuvenation in Downtown Vancouver
IPL photorejuvenation, also called a photofacial, uses intense pulsed light to even out the look of your skin. It's a popular, non-invasive choice for sun and age spots, redness and small visible veins, and it can help skin texture over a series. At Vancouver Green Spa, at 470 Granville St Unit 230, 2nd floor, in downtown Vancouver, you can book IPL photorejuvenation for the face, the face and neck, or the hands.

How IPL works
IPL is a light-based treatment. A flash lamp sends out a broad spectrum of light, and filters let us adjust it for your skin and for the concern we're treating. In the skin, the light turns into gentle heat. That heat can target pigment and small vessels, or work more broadly to boost circulation and support collagen.
- Non-invasive, with nothing breaking the skin
- Settings adjusted to your skin type and concern
- An integrated cooling system for comfort
- We use the AngeLite IPL by Canadian company Silhouet-Tone, which is Health Canada certified
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your skin and on what we're treating. On average, clients have 4 to 6 treatments, once every 2 to 4 weeks, then maintenance every 3-12 months. Some change often shows after the first session, and results build with each treatment. We'll explain what to expect for your skin before you start.
What to expect and downtime
- A consultation to check that your skin is suitable for IPL
- Cleansing and light microdermabrasion
- Protective eyewear during the IPL session
- A mask, serum and SPF to finish
Most people need no downtime. A little redness and swelling is common and usually settles quickly with a cool compress, and mineral makeup can be worn soon after. Sensitive skin can occasionally show mild blistering or bruising for a few days. To be safe, avoid planning a big event for 2-3 days after your first treatment.
Aftercare
- Avoid saunas, hot showers and other strong heat for 12 hours
- Stay out of the sun for several days, especially the first 48 hours
- Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30 every day
- Keep the treated area moisturized
- Skip scrubs, exfoliants and AHA or BHA products for a few days
IPL photorejuvenation FAQ
How much is IPL photorejuvenation in Vancouver?
At Vancouver Green Spa in downtown Vancouver, IPL Face Photorejuvenation is $150, IPL Face & Neck Photorejuvenation is $160 and IPL Hands Photorejuvenation is $70. You can add a Collagen Cell Renewal Mask for $20.
Is IPL painful?
Most clients find it comfortable thanks to the built-in cooling. You may feel a light snap, like an elastic band, or a mild tingle, and a soothing cream is applied afterwards.
Who is a good candidate?
IPL is designed for all skin types, but fair, untanned skin usually responds best. If you have naturally darker or deeply tanned skin, please talk with us first so we can check whether IPL suits you.
How do I prepare?
Don't tan, use self-tanner or go to a solarium for 4 weeks before your appointment. Stop skin resurfacing products such as Retin-A and glycolic peels 14 days before. Please come without perfume, or remove your makeup when you arrive.
Who should not have IPL?
IPL isn't done during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people who are sensitive or allergic to light. It also isn't suitable for people taking steroids or hormone replacement therapy, people with lupus, cancer or diabetes, or those who tend to form keloid scars or get darker or lighter patches when skin heals. If you take Accutane, please wait at least 6 months after your last dose. Tell us about any medications when you book.
Can I have IPL on my neck or chest only?
Yes. IPL for the neck, the décolleté, or both is booked under our neck and décolleté treatments. Call 604-441-1236 and we'll help you choose.
